Andrea and the art of coordinating complexity

by Ecrimesa Group / Monday, 26 May 2025 / Published in Interviews

At Ecrimesa Group, we believe that behind every well-executed process, there’s someone coordinating it with precision and vision. In today’s interview, we speak with Andrea Pontones, who shares her experience navigating change, teamwork, and the day-to-day challenges of planning in a manufacturing environment.

1. What attracted you to join Ecrimesa Group?
Working at Ecrimesa means being in constant contact with three different areas: investment casting, MIM, and machining. This variety of manufacturing processes makes the work dynamic and the professional challenges diverse and stimulating.

2. How were your first weeks at the company?
Starting a new position is always challenging—new systems, new people, new tasks, even a new industry. But for me, the first weeks and months couldn’t have gone better. The welcome was incredibly warm, and since I already knew the company from my university internship, everything felt easier and more familiar.

3. What surprised you most about the work environment?
What really surprised me was the deep technical knowledge of my colleagues. They not only master their individual roles, but also understand the entire process from start to finish. That level of expertise creates a very solid work culture.

4. How would you explain what you do to someone outside the industry?
I’d sum it up as the planning and management of subcontracted production operations. Though of course, that’s just a small part of what the job actually involves.

5. What do you hope to contribute to your team?
Professionally, I’d like to bring fresh ideas. Personally, I hope to help maintain a positive work environment where people feel comfortable and motivated.

6. If not Ecrimesa… what company or field would you be curious to work in?
Probably veterinary medicine, with a focus on large animals like horses—but without leaving behind the care of small domestic animals. It’s a field I’ve always found interesting.

7. What tool (physical or digital) is essential to your work?
Without a doubt, Excel. It’s a powerful, versatile tool that helps me get through the day efficiently.

8. One object that’s always on your desk (and why)?
A calendar. It’s a must in any planning department—essential for keeping track of time and priorities.

9. Recommend a movie, a series, a song, and a book so we can get to know you better.
For a movie, The Chorus (Les Choristes). As for a series, definitely Dark. It’s hard to choose just one book, but for a classic, The House of Bernarda Alba, and for something more current, Monsieur Linh and His Child. And music-wise, I’d go with the album La Ley Innata by Extremoduro—I couldn’t pick just one song from it.

10. A city or country you’d love to visit?
Greece, especially Athens. I’ve always been fascinated by its history and culture—since I was a child.
