Fernando Guerrero: A man forged in ECRIMESA Group

by Ecrimesa Group / Thursday, 16 June 2022 / Published in Interviews

Fernando Guerrero has witnessed the profound development that ECRIMESA has sustained throughout its history. Currently Head of Purchasing, his relationship with the company goes back much further.

“I tell my son that I’m in the business of buying everything my company needs to be able to operate, and that it’s not as easy as when you store in a store.”

  1. How long have you been working at Ecrimesa Group?
I joined ECRIMESA in 1998, and I have been working there for 24 years.
  2. What tasks have you performed there?
Well, my first years were as an inspector. Later on, with the implementation of the ERP, my work was monitoring its operations in the plant and management of external workshops.
For those who do not know what ERP is: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a type of software that organizations use to manage day-to-day business activities such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management, compliance and supply chain operations.
Then in 2004 I was helping in the area of Planning, and since 2007 I have been Head of Procurement.
It has been a long time, during which I have been able to deepen my knowledge in different tasks. It could be said that I know ECRIMESA well, and not only because of my own professional career. You could say that ECRIMESA is the company of my life.
  3. How have you seen the evolution of the company since you joined?
Not since my incorporation, since I was born. My father developed all his working life in ECRIMESA and I have known it since I was a little boy and obviously, although it has always been avant-garde, the evolution at the level of technological development and processes in recent years has been brutal.
  4. How do you tell or would you tell your children what you do for a living?
I tell my son that I buy everything my company needs to be able to function, and that it is not as easy as when you buy in a store. I think that is a very graphic explanation for him and gives him a very concrete context of how I work.
  5. How do you value your work experience at Ecrimesa?
Very positively! It has helped me, from my university career, to develop a specific profession such as purchasing. It is demanding, but also very exciting.
  6. What recommendation would you give to the new generations who are currently entering the workforce?
Really, that they should think that they can have a future in it and that this is achieved by getting involved and fighting every day to improve it. This mentality is what has allowed ECRIMESA to position itself where it is today.
  7. What company would you like to work for, if only out of curiosity?
More than in a company, in a sector, the sportswear sector. Since I was a child, I have always been passionate about everything related to sports and especially everything related to equipment, sports marketing management, etc.
  8. If there were time gates, what era of the past would you like to travel to?
Undoubtedly to the Egypt of the Pharaohs, I have always been fascinated by the culture they developed in 1500 BC.
  9. Tell us an amusing anecdote related to your work.
In all these years, I’ve had a lot. But what I can highlight the most is the atmosphere we have in our office. This means that, always within the demands of our work, we have time to enjoy fun moments.
  10. Recommend a movie, a series, a song and a book.
    Movie: Weapons of woman.
    Series: 24.
Song: Everything counts by Depeche Mode.
Book: La niebla y la doncella by Lorenzo Silva.
  11. That country or city that you are wishing to know.
I have a thorn in my side which is to visit Pompeii. With a bit of luck, I hope to get rid of it soon.
