José Macías: Connecting Ecrimesa with international clients

by Ecrimesa Group / Thursday, 12 March 2026 / Published in Interviews

In this interview we speak with José Macías, a member of the commercial department at Ecrimesa Group, where he has been working since September 2017. After beginning this stage of his professional career just a few days after leaving Germany, he is now responsible for supporting clients in Austria, the Stuttgart region and some clients in Switzerland. In this conversation he shares his experience at the company, how he has seen its evolution in recent years, and some personal reflections about his work and professional journey.

1. How long have you been working at Ecrimesa Group?
I have been working at Ecrimesa Group since 01.09.2017. Just three days before that I was still living in Germany. Time has passed so quickly!

2. What tasks have you carried out there?
My work has been in the commercial department. After a few months of training with the person who previously held my position and with managers from other departments, I am now responsible for our clients in Austria, the Stuttgart region and some clients in Switzerland.

3. How have you seen the company evolve since you joined?
Since I joined, I have seen the company evolve very positively, following the always-sought continuous improvement. This is reflected in new and larger production facilities at Ecrimesa, Mimecrisa and Mecansa. It is also visible in their quality departments, in the acquisition of new production areas, in the growth and improvement of the human structure for greater efficiency at work, and in another major milestone such as Mimecri USA. And we keep moving forward.

4. How would you explain to your children what you do for a living?
When I have to explain what I do, I would say that I try to meet the needs of our company – that is, our colleagues – as well as possible, so that we can in turn meet the needs of our customers as well as possible, since they are ultimately the reason we exist as a company.

5. How do you value your work experience at Ecrimesa?
I consider my work experience at Ecrimesa to be very enriching in every respect. There are always new things, there is always a lot to do, and you never get bored.

6. What advice would you give to the younger generations who are starting their careers today?
The advice I would give to the younger generations is, even if it sounds like something previous generations have already said: be motivated, try to learn and work hard. Sow well so that you can reap later.

7. In which company would you like to work, even if it were just out of curiosity?
If it were just out of curiosity, I would like to work at Google. As a company with new structures and new technologies.

8. If time portals existed, which period of the past would you like to visit?
If time portals existed, there are many periods I would like to see or experience. Perhaps the youth of my father or my grandfather. Because of the music, maybe also the 1960s or 1970s. If it were only to see it, but not to live it, then perhaps the time of the Egyptians or the Greeks.

9. Tell us a funny anecdote related to your work.
One day, during a European foundry congress at our company, we were attending several groups of around 25 people. After a while I noticed a trail of black rubber dust along several office corridors and eventually discovered that it was the sole of my safety boots (which had been lent to me at the time) falling apart because of the tremendous heat that day.

10. Recommend a movie, a series, a song and a book.
When it comes to movies, classics are always a good choice: for example the trilogy The Godfather or Full Metal Jacket, or in general anything by Kubrick. As for series, The Simpsons, especially the older episodes. In music there are many songs: All Shook Up by Elvis, Money by Pink Floyd, Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin, Move on Up by Curtis Mayfield, Freddie Freeloader by Miles Davis or Evil Ways by Santana. As for books, I have less to say, but if I had to mention one – besides the Ecrimesa LinkedIn page – I would say Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

11. Which country or city are you eager to visit?
There are many places in the world I have not yet visited and would like to see. For example Japan, Machu Picchu, Shanghai or Budapest.
