Just about to celebrate his first decade with us, Juan Francisco Pérez recapitulates his professional experiences at Ecrimesa, and also recalls a ‘terrifying’ anecdote that occurred in Germany.
- How long have you been working at Ecrimesa Group?
I have been working at Ecrimesa Group for quite some time now. In January 2023 I will complete a decade. - What tasks have you performed there?
I worked for a few months as a laboratory technician, until I learned the MIM process control.
Then, I started working as an R&D Engineer in charge of materials development, R&D projects, process analysis, implementation and development of Additive Manufacturing technology (3D printing). In recent months I have also been working as a Project Manager.
Research, development and innovation (usually indicated by the expression I+D+i or I+D+I) is a concept of recent appearance in the context of science, technology and society studies; as an overcoming of the previous concept of research and development (R&D). - How have you seen the evolution of the company since you joined?
The growth has been gigantic, especially in recent years. New projects, turnover records, capacity expansion, new technologies, jobs and even international expansion. This undoubtedly is something difficult to see during current times. - How do you tell or would you tell your children what you do for a living?
It is not easy to explain and even less easy to understand these topics for people outside my work environment. When I finished my studies, MIM technology became my professional priority. What I can tell you is, that having achieved this, I always talk about my work with a lot of passion. - How do you value your work experience at Ecrimesa?
I have been formed and have matured as a professional. My first job as an engineer was for Ecrimesa and almost 10 years later I am still here. Therefore, I value it as very positive, especially for the work environment I have the opportunity to grow with. - What recommendations would you give to the new generations that are currently starting to work?
From my point of view, the key to being a good professional is based on having knowledge, responsibility, patience, attitude and, above all, being a good partner for your team. - What company would you like to work for, if only out of curiosity?
Since I discovered Crossfit it became my hobby, my physical and mental health and my place of absolute disconnection. I’ve been practicing it for more than 7 years now and I’m not bad at it. I actually think I could do well working at it. - If there were time gates, what era of the past would you like to travel to?
Without a doubt to the Middle Ages, I’m passionate about everything related to this era. - Tell us an amusing anecdote related to your work.
On one of my first work trips to Germany, if not the first, I was unaware that there were no speed limits on some stretches of German highways. I remember I was traveling in a car with a saleswoman and my face must have reflected something like ‘today we’ll end up in the dungeon’. She noticed it and laughed, but after that told me about it explaining the situation. Nowadays I’m the one who drives on German highways and I love it. - Recommend us a movie, a series, a song and a book.
