This summer, MimecriUSA commissioned a new liquid penetrant inspection line at its plant in Thomasville, Georgia, strengthening the quality-control capabilities of the group’s U.S. facility.
The milestone is also a story of shared know-how. In June, the U.S. team completed hands-on training at the group’s plant in Spain, and that expertise is now applied every day on the new line. This is an example of how Ecrimesa Group transfers technical knowledge across its sites.
Liquid penetrant inspection is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to detect surface-breaking defects, fine cracks, porosity and surface discontinuities that are invisible to the naked eye. The part is cleaned, coated with a fluorescent penetrant and, after the excess is removed and a developer applied, inspected under UV light: any discontinuity lights up.
The equipment was supplied by Magnaflux, a global reference in NDT. The new capability responds to the inspection requirements of MimecriUSA’s customers in demanding sectors and reinforces the company’s continuous-improvement processes, adding one more control before a part ever leaves the plant.
