Ron Smith: Attracted by Ecrimesa Group’s family spirit

by Ecrimesa Group / Tuesday, 15 July 2025 / Published in Interviews

Ron Smith is Head of Maintenance at MimecriUSA. In this interview, he shares what led him to join the company, how the experience in Spain marked him both professionally and personally, and what motivates him in this new stage.

  1. What attracted you to MimecriUSA to join the project?
Alejandro Martinez, CEO of Ecrimesa Group, is what drew me to the company. The way that he spoke of how Ecrimesa was a family-oriented company. It did help that I was allowed to bring my wife with me to Spain.

  2. What has it meant for you to be part of a company undergoing international expansion?
It has been an honor to join this company. The support of our team here and in Spain has been great although we have had to undergo some very challenging times at points. To be able to help bring the idea of this project to actual producing parts in the USA has been a very challenging and great learning experience.

  3. What surprised you the most when you arrived in Spain for the trainee process?
The culture change was the most surprising. I had never thought of going to Spain growing up but after visiting there and meeting the people of Ecrimesa Group in person it was honestly an eye-opening experience. I have to mention that Santander is a very beautiful city and has so much charm, I really loved my time there.

  4. What motivates you the most about your current job?
I am motivated most by the constant learning experiences. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new and to be able to use it to help move our company forward.

  5. How would you explain your job to someone outside the industrial sector?
I would have to say that my job challenges both mental and physical abilities on a daily basis. I have to be very flexible on what job duties I may need to do throughout the day.

  6. What do you hope to learn or contribute in this new professional stage?
I hope to learn that my capabilities are much broader than I thought and that through my contributions we will grow into a very successful company.

  7. If it weren’t MimecriUSA… what company or sector would you have liked to work in, even just out of curiosity?
I have always enjoyed working on thing since I was a kid. I would have liked to work in maintenance type role anywhere that really cared about their employees.

  8. One object that can’t be missing from your desk.
The object that is always on my desk is my pen and notepad because I am always taking notes and writing down ideas I may have.

  9. Recommend us a movie, a series, a song, and a book that would help us get to know you better.
This one is a tough one for me, but I will try to get you all of these. A movie I recommend: The Fast and the Furious A series I recommend: Supernatural A song I recommend: Here I go again by Whitesnake or See you Again by Charlie Puth About books, I am not an avid reader but anything automotive or hunting I would mostly read when I do.

  10. That country or city you’re eager to visit.
Well, I love to visit Spain when I have the opportunity, but my wife and I would love to visit Ireland.
